Well...
Quite a bit's happened in all this time, huh?

Yeah, but really, it has.

I know I haven't been posting as often as I used to, but it's been hectic lately.  I can't really seem to find the time or the content to submit here.  See, it's been a long time since I've made anything I would like to post.
But hey, I've been working on some really cool projects of my own.

And sadly, bad stuff here and there has happened in all this time.  My grandfather passed away a year ago this May, and things aren't quite the same without him: the requests to water his garden, the sage wisdom, the religious conversations.  And even seeing him sit on his favorite spot on the couch is something I rather miss.  The girl of my dreams (or so I thought) is no longer someone I wanna try to court, since she's gone on a mission and told me she didn't feel the same.  I wrecked my car last year, and really cost us a lot of money.

But there's been a lot of good, too: I got a job (albeit a really sucky one), I graduated (as I'm sure I posted about here), I made some really wonderful friends (like the very sweet and talented drockNation), I progress a little on some of my own stories, and I made a few cool choices.  And you know, I made a pretty sweet goal to achieve this year by Christmas.  And here it is: I, Luis Diego Salas, swear to finish at least one of my story lines by the end of the year.

And I've made a lot of money from my bad job: it really sucks.  I get to work only once a week (and two hours off the clock), from seven to three in a city forty minutes away from home, paid decent but not generously, and all of it I could overlook, but then there's my boss.  My boss is a racist, a sexist, a philanderer, and a Luddite.  No matter how much I coax him to, he simply won't upgrade his software.  That's bad, you know: his software for doing graphics is from freaking 1999.

But hey, it pays.  And since I technically started my overtime at nine, I'd better stop writing this blog.

So I've not kept anybody updated in forever, I see.

Well, a lot has happened since then.  The year is 2014: the war of Veggieman against academia is rapidly coming to its conclusion, with academia taking many blows to the Vegetable Man (me).  My semester here at the U of U will be my last if I can get my classwork done well, and I shall, despite much of it being a pointless farce and a jape with grades.  And I have undergone rocky roads of late, what with my hardest classes all being this semester, backtracked assignments to yet do, the love of my life having turned me down earlier this year, and a couple of medical ailments that, though are not lethal, make things suck big time.

Artwork has been slow, but I still doodle from time to time.  I do hope to get much more work on here submitted, and soon, because I've since upgraded my software.  These days, I dedicate hours of my time and energy to math, hoping to slither outta that class with a decent grade.  But this is to be my final semester: the end of the war is near for me.  And once it is, I return home to Cali, to a hero's welcome…and several thousand dollars to pay back in student loans.

I doubt even this www.manu-et-sophie.be/D-F/Gold… would ever cover more than ten percent of student loans, and in the end, I'd rather a one-on-one with the dragon guarding it than having to confront the loan people.

At any rate, stay tuned, because I have a couple of really nice things in the works, I hope.

Well, here's a bit of an update.

The end of my first semester at the University of Utah is about to draw to a close, and a not too unsuccessful close at that.  Though all three of my courses were lecture and at times boring (so much, in fact, that I wished to scream out in frustration), and at other times kind of fun, I think I made it out okay on two of them.  But three, why three, that's the target goal: the third and final, well, final is this evening at six.  And there's much studying to be done and writing of two little old essays.  But once I leave that final, why I'm good to go.  And that said, my bags are almost packed and I'm raring to get back to Cali this Friday.

What of my artworks, you ask?

Well, the sad, moribund truth of the matter of the fact is that I have had little to no time to make any new sculpture of finer quality: I'm wrapping up the final two pieces to a set of five, pictures of which I intend to post on here as soon as I possibly can.  That, and I've been working on an animatic for a film I hope to someday make, along with a few other bits and bobs.  But once finals are finis, I have leave to go back home and spend my summer making fun cartoons.

Salas.  Out.

Salut, friends and neighbors.

So, here's what's happened thus far: esos malditos at BYU have since denied my application and appeal, and that worked out okay, actually.  It took about three to four months' time for me to get to where I am: the original choice was Southern Utah University, which is pretty nice: very charming school.  Now, however, I'm in the big city itself: Salt Lake City, studying in the University of Utah.  And what a school it is!  True, my courses this semester are pretty dull (they're all lecture courses), but I'd like to believe that the duller, the easier.  I haven't yet failed an art lecture class, so why worry about it now?

And frankly, this marks a pretty substantive chapter in my life: for the first time, I live away from home and far away from any blood relatives...and man, do I miss them all.  So Cal is nice, see.  This city, however, is a lot more diverse and variable than my friends back home told me it was gonna be: plenty of ethnic restaurants, loads of vintage shops, some art museums, a treasure trove of culture, but alas, I miss L.A's cultural hub all the more.

Meanwhile, I've not updated anything here in a while, but give that some time: you'll see some awesome stuff up in here the likes of which I think you've never seen.

Salas...out.

Some very new times have hit here.  Things are really looking up and I'm just baffled at it all.  The circumstances of life have been shifted around like a street con man shuffling cups with a dollar hidden in them.

I'm still in the dark as to whether or not I can actually apply to BYU, but it doesn't look too bad thus far.  Here's hoping and praying for it.  I've decided, as big decisions go, to go back to school in the fall to take flash animation, something that I never before did.  Before that, it was using PhotoShop and iMovie, not too shabby a combination, but the results weren't all that great, I confess.  So now it's on to flash animation.  And on that note...

I've begun continuing work on one of my films, because if all goes well, I can show it at the big student showcase in the community college that I went to before...I'm not even a student anymore and I get to show it there.  Here's hoping it all goes well.  But yes, it's a long way to the end of the movie, so I'd better get back to it.

Peace be with y'all,
Diego S.
